Write a Simple ResumeA simple resume is sometimes all that is needed for a job, this really depends on the job in question, a college resume with educational detail might be un-necessary for certain jobs but a professional resume may require a full set of details rather like a Curriculum vitae.

The writing of a college resume is very similar to a professional resume but with more educational details. A simple resume which is on occasions called for will do nicely many job applications and may even give you an edge as the perspective employer will not have to sift through reams of unimportant details in order to find out what the candidate is capable of really.

Mistakes In Resume Writing:

Writing your resume should be your ticket to getting that job you've been looking for or at least to getting an interview for it. For each position the human resources personnel will be flooded with CVs and resumes from a diverse section of applicants. It is your job when writing your resume to get your seen and to make it stand out so much that it gets put to the top of the pile.

There follows some pointers that should be followed when writing and presenting your resume. Many of the mistakes and ideas listed here are just common sense really. Employers will not tolerate mistakes in the presentation of CVs, resumes or job applications because if the applicant can't be bothered to rectify their own mistakes in their application then this isn't the type of person that they will be looking for.

  • Make your resume stand out - It helps the employer read it and gives an Idea as to your personality too. There are many different resume formats that you can choose from.

  • Make sure you proofread your resume before submitting it. Then get someone else to proofread it as well making sure that there are no errors in the spelling or grammar.

  • Do not use small fonts (size 9 and under). It simply won't get read like that, likewise, fonts size 14 and over will be simply too large and is also hard to read. Size 12 is ideal. Keep the typeface or font simple - Arial or Roman.

  • In writing about your current and past jobs and duties don't omit your actual skills and abilities which are actually your valuable selling tools which your new employer will be genuinely interested in knowing.

  • Outline and highlight your talents rather than your duties. Back this up with facts and figures wherever possible.

  • When it comes down to it, don't get hung up in the right or wrong way to present your resume. The only right way is so that it looks appealing to read.  I receive CVs every day and from time to time have to sort through huge piles of them. There are never two the same. There are always many that just don't read easily. They get binned because the person who writes in a confused manner will not be the right sort of person for the job.

Be clear and concise with what you need to say - Don't ramble.
